What Is ApexiCon E?
ApexiCon E (diflorasone diacetate cream USP 0.05%) is a topical corticosteroid indicated for the relief of the inflammatory and pruritic (itching) manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses. ApexiCon E is available in generic form as diflorasone diacetate.
What Are Side Effects of ApexiCon E?
Side effects of ApexiCon E include:
- burning
- itching
- irritation
- dryness
- thinning or softening of your skin
- skin rash or irritation around your mouth
- swollen hair follicles
- changes in color of treated skin
- blisters
- pimples
- crusting of treated skin, or
- stretch marks
Dosage for ApexiCon E
Each gram of ApexiCon E Cream (diflorasone diacetate cream USP 0.05%) con¬tains: 0.5 mg diflorasone diacetatein 30 or 60 gm tubes. ApexiCon E should be applied to the affected areas as a thin film from one to three times daily depending on the severity or resistant nature of the condition. Occlusive dressings may be used for the management of psoriasis or recalcitrant conditions. If an infection develops, the use of occlusive dressings should be discontinued and appropriate antimicrobial therapy initiated.

ApexiCon E may interact with other drugs. Tell your doctor all medications and supplements you use. ApexiCon E and other topical corticosteroids should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
ApexiCon E During Pregnancy or Breastfeeding
Systemically administered corticosteroids are secreted into breast milk in quantities not likely to have a deleterious effect on the infant. Nevertheless, caution should be exercised when topical corticosteroids are administered to a nursing woman. Effectiveness and safety of diflorasone diacetate cream in pediatric patients have not been established.

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Your skin can absorb topical steroid medicine, which may cause steroid side effects throughout the body. Tell your doctor if you have:
- swelling, weight gain (especially in your face or your upper back and torso);
- irregular menstrual periods, changes in sexual function; or
- memory problems, feeling irritable.
Stop using diflorasone topical and call your doctor at once if you have:
- blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain, or seeing halos around lights;
- severe skin irritation where the medicine was applied; or
- signs of skin infection (swelling, redness, warmth, oozing).
Steroid medicine can affect growth in children. Tell your doctor if your child is not growing at a normal rate while using this medicine.
Common side effects may include:
- redness or crusting around your hair follicles;
- burning or itching of treated skin;
- lightened color of treated skin;
- skin dryness or irritation;
- acne, skin rash;
- increased hair growth;
- stretch marks; or
- white or "pruned" appearance of the skin (caused by leaving wound dressings on for long periods of time).
